No commentsThe Goops

by Gillette Burgess
The Goops they lick their fingers
And the Goops they lick their knives:
They spill their broth on the tablecloth
Oh, they lead disgusting lives!
The Goops they talk while eating,
And loud and fast they chew;
And that is why I’m glad that I
Am not a Goop, are you?
In keeping with yesterday’s post, I have decided to revisit my youth a bit. When I was little I could recite this poem by heart, but still made my dad read it to me every night before bed. If I think back on my childhood, this poem and the book it came from is one of the first things that come to mind. Just thinking about the detailed wood cut prints that illustrated each of the pages makes me smile.
I would love to recommend the book, but it has long been out of print. It is called “The Children’s Book of Literature” and is a large collection classic children’s stories, poems and fable’s.
And, just in case you are wondering: I AM actually a GOOP. Always have been, always will be.

This letter is to inform you that I am hereby tendering my resignation as an adult. I have decided I would like to accept the responsibilities of a child again.

Helvetica is a feature-length independent film about typography, graphic design and global visual culture. It looks at the proliferation of one typeface (which is celebrating its 50th birthday this year) as part of a larger conversation about the way type affects our lives. Helvetica is currently screening at film festivals, museums, design conferences, and cinemas worldwide, and is now available on DVD. Get more info about the film…
No commentsOPI Summer Fun: Mod About Brights
![]()
It’s that time again! Summer is finally kicking Spring out of the way. With summer’s entrance comes a new line of fun finger hues from OPI. Just what I needed to shake the dust off another work week.
“This season, OPI goes mod-ern with Mod About Brights, the newest selection of shades in the Brights by OPI line.
Mod About Brights captures the fun and edginess of the mod “invasion” of the Sixties, but with a bright twist that makes these colors exciting and current for 2008. And with fashion right now being all about strong color and vivid, graphic prints, these are the shades that look up-to-the-minute on fingertips and toes.
If you love color, you’ll be Mod About Brights”
I am torn once again as to which is my favorite. I am really liking the orange and green, but I think the pink will be more functional. I have a little time to decide, the new line isn’t due in stores until June.
To see the entire line visit OPI.com
(my picks up to now, I will have to see them in person to make my final choice)
1 commentHow to Forgive the Unforgivable
From iGoogle How to of the Day
I was intrigued when I saw the title of today’s “how to of the day” I don’t consider myself an angry person, but who couldn’t learn to be a little more understanding. I was hoping for something really inspiring to make me want to call those mean girls from high school and tell them they are pretty and I didn’t mean all of those horrible things I said. Instead, I wanted to send iGoogle a message telling them where they could shove it. Too harsh? I don’t think so.
Theirs is a 12 step process, that alone should have been enough to prevent me from reading on. Read more

You were born with a nice combination of strength and sensitivity. You function best when you have a partner or a good friend with whom to share your adventures. People can talk to you because of your depth of understanding. The challenges that occur in your life serve to uncover your innate strengths which may lie dormant if not for those experiences. Wearing, meditating or surrounding yourself with Sunset Gold helps increase your self-descipline and transform hurts and setbacks into knowledge and opportunities.

3 commentsPoliticians That Give Good Face
Everywhere you turn right now you find something about the presidential primaries. It is on the news, on the talk shows and in advertising. There doesn’t seem to be a corner left that doesn’t have at least one hopefuls face tacked up. I figured I had better hurry up and add my two cents to prevent The Dirty City from being left out in the cold.
Most people that know me know I have some pretty strong political views, but my views about design are stronger still. While I would love to say that what the candidates logo/advertising looks like doesn’t matter, actually no, I don’t want to say that at all. Fact is, it does matter. It matters because how someone presents themselves says a lot about who they are.
