It’s OPI Time Again. And Again.

Category: Design

It may have come to some of your attention that I have not posted anything about my OPI addiction/collection in quite some time. Ok, probably not.  But for the purposes of my ego we will say you did. Perhaps some of you thought I kicked the habit?  Or maybe I was just so busy with my exciting and adventurous life that I just didn’t have the time to blog about my newest additions? Sadly, none of these things are true. I’m just lazy. It is shameful, but true. Well, that and I was thoroughly uninspired by the summer line. Not really all that surprising. Summer is nice and all, but fall will always have my heart.

Just to keep this blog thoroughly up to date on my OPI indulgences. I present you with the summer 09 line up. From what I could tell, it is still available at most retailers that carry OPI. I chose Miami Beet figuring hot pink nail polish was a summer prerequisite. I wore it once or twice…mainly out of OPI obligation than actually really loving the color. Now, don’t get me wrong. I LOVE me some hot pink, just not as nail polish for some reason. It just seemed so obvious in some way. Way too predictable, like a red sports car. It’s a classic for sure, but not really exciting. Or maybe I just had too many Barbie dolls growing up. In any case, here it is in all it’s glory….

Now then – to what inspired me to blog about OPI again.

The fall line. Flash

I am blaming the unseasonably shifty weather of late for my tardiness on purchasing and reporting on this (as it was released August 5 – I know…). When I realized what I had done in missing out on such an important event (go ahead and mock) I dashed out that very evening hoping upon hope that some sample packs were still available. I could tell choosing just one color from this line up was going to be tricky. Sadly, my lateness to the game meant that all the sample packs had gone and I was forced to choose just one shade. My choice:

Here Today Aragone Tomorrow

In the photo it looks a far brighter shade of green than it does in life. The same is true for the entire line. All the shades are extremely dark, many of them bordering on black with just a hint of color. Considering I am in love with black nail polish you can imagine how this discovery made my choice even more difficult. As it often does, fate stepped in and (along with an impatient sales girl ready to close up shop and head home) forced me to think quick and go with my initial reaction.  It didn’t hurt that my only green shades are really more summer/spring appropriate. But I have to admit, mostly I loved the color based on the name. Yes, I am a Lord of the Rings fan. Tolkien haters can just put a cork in it. I’m already wearing the color and am, as usual, loving it.
