The burbs

What is it about the suburbs that make people so obsessive about their lawn?

For the past few Saturdays I have been getting up early to mow my parents lawn. And I’ve noticed that no matter what time I go, as soon as I start the mower the neighbors appear outside to mow their lawns. Maybe it’s just a coincidence (Saturday is standard mowing day) but it just strikes me as funny.

And they all seem to be watching, like it’s a race or some sort of competition I’m not aware of. It kinda makes me want to go over there every few days and kick on the mower just to see what they would do…

It’s probably all in my head. But at least if they are mowing too I don’t have to feel guilty about making all the noise that early in the morning.

Speaking of that. Many apologies to all those that like to sleep past 9am on the weekends. But I like to get that shit done and outta the way before it gets too hot to deal. And if I can deal with the partying antics of the college kids next door at 1am on a work night, y’all can deal with me mowing at 9am on a saturday. Half of life is putting up with other people and their shit. this is my contribution to the annoying antics of communal living.

Happy Memorial Day! Monday is way more better when work isn’t involved.
